What to look for when purchasing a mobile printer

Interfaces and compatibility
It is now possible to print directly from a camera phone to a home mobile printer without requiring the use of a computer. Common direct mobile printing methods available on today's camera phones include PictBridge (via USB cable), Bluetooth (10m/30ft wireless range) and memory cards.

The PictBridge mobile print cable is often shipped in the box with your camera phone. It is usually the same USB cable that also serves other purposes like home computer synchronization. PictBridge capability is often indicated by name or with a PictBridge logo on products or in other product information in stores or on the manufacturer's website.

Bluetooth capability is becoming more common in camera phones, primarily for use with hands-free headsets. Most phones with this wireless technology will also be able to send your pictures directly to a printer. If you are in the process of buying or if you have bought your phone from your Cellular service provider, it is advisable to check with them to insure that the Bluetooth cell phone printing capability is enabled. Bluetooth capability for cell phone printers is commonly offered via an optional adapter by printer manufacturers, and is sometimes built directly into the printer. Bluetooth capability is often indicated by name or with a Bluetooth logo on products or in other product information in stores or on the manufacturer's website. Also look for the Bluetooth Print logo for added assurance that the product features Bluetooth cell phone print capability.
